PTSA ELECTIONS FOR 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR
The MHS PTSA will conduct our annual election of officers in May 2024. We are now seeking nominees for the following PTSA positions for the 24-25 school year:
President
Oversees and coordinates the work of an executive board to run a PTSA effectively
Presides at PTSA board and association meetings
Serves as the official contact, communicator and representative of a PTSA
Designated as an authorized signer for PTSA checks,contracts and authorizations for payment
Works with other PTSA leaders to connect families, school and community to support student success
Executive Vice President
Works as the primary aide to the president
Helps lead a PTA towards specific goals consistent with PTA purposes and policies
Performs president’s duties in his or her absence
Carries out other duties outlined in unit bylaws and standing rules or as assigned
Secretary
Takes minutes at board and association meetings
Co-signs formal papers with president: authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters Handles PTSA correspondence as directed by the president
Maintains and preserves PTSA records and important documents to pass on at the end of the term
Treasurer
Maintains permanent records to track unit funds and financial transactions
Chairs budget committee and prepares annual budget for adoption by the association
Pays all PTSA bills as authorized by board or association
Prepares reports for every board and association meeting and an annual financial report
Ensures taxes and reports required by PTSA bylaws, insurance or federal and state governments are completed and submitted by the due dates
VP, Chairperson of Operations
Assisting President on operational duties and lead committees assigned by the association.
Membership Chairperson
Creating and implementing a membership plan, collecting dues, and providing membership reports at PTSA association meetings.
President, Treasurer and Secretary are the 3 positions required for our PTSA to be viable. However, there are additional opportunities to lead such as family engagement chairperson, media & communications chairperson, fundraiser chairperson, among others.
Requirements for nominees are:
Must be an active member with any PTA (not necessary MHS), and join MHS PTSA upon nomination.
Must be enthusiastic and supportive of PTSA
Should be willing to give PTSA a satisfactory level of priority and commitment, including attendance at meetings
Should be able to work well with people

Nominations are due by Friday, May 3, 2024. Our PTSA election will take place on May 15, 2024, at 6pm. We look forward to hearing from you. Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something.

PTSA Election for the 24-25 school year will be held at the May 15 meeting
You will find all MHS PTSA meeting dates on the MHS Community Calendar. Meetings are in-person and Google Meet links are available for those who need to meet virtually.
How to Join the MHS PTSA?
MHS PTSA membership is $10 per person and joining the PTSA is a great investment to support our school and children!
We give senior scholarships to deserving senior students, organize teacher and staff appreciation events, parent seminars, senior graduation events, and much more!
Being a member does NOT require that you volunteer. That is totally your choice. Being a member DOES show your support for the incredible MHS staff and students.
Attending meetings is not a requirement of MHS PTSA membership. Membership just means you have the right to vote in the officer election process and in other initiatives that are proposed throughout the school year.
MHS PTSA uses the online payment system, Totem, for a quick and easy transaction. (Please note there is a $1 service fee that Totem charges).
