Are you a Student Athlete? Do you want to participate in sports in College?

If you want to play sports at the collegiate level once you start college, don't forget that you need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. The NCAA Eligibility Center makes sure that you have taken the appropriate classes and have earned the required grades to play sports in college.  It's never to early to start planning so make your account today.  Drop by and see your counselor if you have any questions.

Community College Placement Tests for Seniors

Seniors... If you are planning on attending a Community College in the Fall, you'll need to complete your English & Math Placement tests before you can sign up for classes.  The following is when Mission, Ohlone & DeAnza College will be on campus.  Remember to sign up in the Counseling Office because space is limited.

Mission College:   Placement testing on Thursday, March 12th from 8-11AM.  Students need to complete the online application for Mission College prior to placement testing.  Instructions are given when you sign up for the test.

Ohlone College:   Application Workshop on Tuesday, March 24th from 9-11AM.  Placement Testing on Tuesday, April 7th 9AM - Noon

DeAnza College:  Application Workshop on Monday, March 23rd & Placement testing on Thursday, March 26th from 8-11AM.

Financial Aid Night

Financial Aid Night was held on Wednesday, 12/10/14.  We had a great turn out and a great presentation on the importance of filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as well as the different types of financial aid out there.  We have attached the power point that our presenter used. Class Selection for the Next School Year

It's already that time of the year to sign up for classes for next semester.  If you have any questions or unsure of the classes to take come in and see your counselor.  Here are all of our scheduling presentations in case you missed them or need to refer back to them for information.

College Entrance Exams - SAT & ACT

To go directly to a 4 year college, entrance exams are required.  Students can take the SAT or the ACT, most colleges accept either one.  MHS does not offer these tests on our campus.  Students will need to sign up for the SAT at and they can sign up for the ACT at .  Both websites offer valuable information and free test prep so make sure you take a look at them.  Please see your counselor for further information.

Juniors!!!!  Are you trying to figure out what to do after high school?  Take a look at our power point in the locker.  We take you through all types of higher education... Community Colleges, CSU's (California State University), UC's (University of California) and Private Schools.  It's never to early to start putting a list of possible colleges together!

The MHS Counseling department consists of 4 counselors who serve the needs of our student body.  We are here to support students academically, socially and emotionally.  Our main goal is to keep students focused on meeting the graduation requirements as well as assisting in post high school planning.  We meet with students individually throughout the school year as well as with classroom presentations.  We encourage you to stay in contact with your counselor!  Students are divided by last name.  The breakdown is as follows:
