If you want to play sports at the collegiate level once you start college, don't forget that you need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. The NCAA Eligibility Center makes sure that you have taken the appropriate classes and have earned the required grades to play sports in college.  It's never to early to start planning so make your account today.  Drop by and see your counselor if you have any questions.

Welcome to Counseling at MHS

The MHS Counseling department consists of 5 counselors who serve the needs of our student body. We are here to support students academically, socially and emotionally. Our main goal is to keep students focused on meeting the graduation requirements as well as assisting in post high school planning. We meet with students individually throughout the school year as well as with classroom presentations. We encourage you to stay in contact with your counselor! Students are divided by last name. Scheduling for the 2017/18 School Year

Scheduling for the upcoming school year is about to begin.  MHS counselors will be meeting with the current Ninth - Eleventh grade students starting on Feb. 6th.  Here is the schedule:

Financial Aid for the Class of 2017

Please remember that dates are changing this year for submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA opens the door to state and federal aid/grants. It's important for everyone to complete and submit the FAFSA. Regardless of income, if you are going to a 2 year or 4 year college or whether it's a private or public university, everyone should complete it. The priority filing period is now from Oct.1st, 2016 thru March 2nd, 2017.

College Entrance Exams - SAT & ACT

To go directly to a 4 year college, entrance exams are required.  Students can take the SAT or the ACT, most colleges accept either one.  MHS does not offer these tests on our campus.  Students will need to sign up for the SAT at and they can sign up for the ACT at .  Both websites offer valuable information and free test prep so make sure you take a look at them.  Please see your counselor for further information.

College Applications: UC, CSU & Private Schools

UC College Applications are up and available for students to work on.  The submission dates for any UC Campus is Nov. 1st - 30th.  Students can get a head start on their applications by starting them now.

The CSU system will make their applications open to all by Oct. 1st.  Applications can be submitted to any of the 23 campuses from Oct. 1st thru Nov. 30th.

CSU/UC Application Workshop

Students who are applying to private colleges/universities can use the Common Application.  This a streamlined application process for over 600 private schools.  The deadlines to all private schools vary so you will need to make sure that you are meeting the application deadlines of each school that you apply to.
