I began working as the Milpitas High School Teacher Librarian in 2007. I earned my Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University in 2004. Prior to working at MHS, I worked as a librarian at Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose and Aragon High School in San Mateo. I also teach a Library Skills course for Mission College.
I love the opportunity to work with a cross-section of students over a variety of disciplines. The library gives me the chance to teach a wide variety of subjects and provide students exposure to a world beyond the classroom. I enjoy the challenge of helping students navigate the vast amount of information that exists in our digital world. One of my greatest joys in the library comes from connecting a reluctant reader with a book they can't put down.
Prior to becoming a teacher librarian, I began teaching Math in 1985. I taught mathematics at all levels from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics. I served as a math project curriculum lead and a department chair from 1989-2002 when I moved into a librarian position. At MHS, I taught summer school Integrated Math in 2007 and first semester Algebra II in 2014.
